Landscape sketches
When I am working on a commission with lots of details I usually make small sketches of some of the details of an artwork in order to make sure that all of the elements are aligned in style and color palette. Sometimes I make several sketches of the same elements just to check which one is the best to be on the final picture. Here is a couple of examples of such sketches.
